‘Four Peaks, Adirondacks’ in Mslexia

‘Four Peaks, Adirondacks’ was chosen for the Poems for the Planet feature in Issue 103 of Mslexia. Here are some excerpts from Linda France’s commentary:
‍

“I was delighted however to be transported to ‘Four Peaks, Adirondacks’ and share this beautifully evoked experience of mystery and awe. Right from the first long, rangy line, there is a sense of surrender, or being part of a process bigger than the speaker, the human de-centred.

…The interconnections and violence of the natural world are palpable, recounted in vivid sensory detail and accepted as part of the orientation: ‘the meat and blood that bonds the pack’. There is beauty too, evident in so many lines, still long, stretching out like the landscape itself: ‘Wolves howl and trail off into breathing; silence curling white with cold./Theirs is the elegance, theirs is the moon.’

…Although she doesn’t claim it for herself here, the poet is also a creatrix, a channel for helping us hear ‘the voice of god through the crack in the door.’”
